GOVERNMENT GIVEN 2 WEEKS ULTIMATUM TO PROVIDE ENOUGH PREMIX

By: Kate Okyere
Some canoe owners in Elmina have given the Government of Ghana two weeks ultimatum to provide enough premix in the area.
The canoe owners angrily complained about the inadequate supply of premix fuel promised by government.
Government of Ghana promised Elmina fishermen to provide them premix fuel and indeed the government fulfilled the promise but the sad news is that, those responsible for the selling of the premix fuel do not sell it accordingly.
According to Ibrahim Idan a fisherman, when the premix arrives, they do not get the amount they expect to get because the distributors  distributes it to other people leaving them behind and for that reason, they have advised  themselves to seize any premix that will come again if government do not talk to the distributors within the week given.
He went on to explain that, the committee government formed is collapsed and now only one person sells the premix fuel and the profit that could contributes to the development of the country, goes into one persons  pocket  leaving the government nothing.
He again said that, the MCE does not know anything about what is going on and they plan not to let him know because he does not have enough power to control the situation and even if he speaks, the new committee would not listen as they would listen to the president himself.
Kojo Badu also explained that, he is so disappointed in the new committee who keep the premix fuel and later sold it to a high price which making the work of the fishermen very difficult and tedious.
He added that, apart from harming the fishermen, the distributors are again tarnishing the image of their political party and for that reason; they will not sit for them to that before complaining that is why they have given government a week to resolve the issue other than that, there will be blood shedding.
