KOMENDA SUGAR FACTORY TO BE REVIVED

Komenda Sugar factory
The President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has revealed that the government has finalized the financing of the Komenda sugar factory.
He made this known when delivering the state of the nation address in parliament on Tuesday morning February 25, 2014.
The approval of a $35-million credit facility between the Government of Ghana and the Government of India by Parliament last year paved the way for the revamping of the defunct sugar factory.

Residents of Komenda are optimistic that when the sugar factory is reestablished it will go a long way to improve the economic status of the area.
They noted that many youth will be employed to take good care of their family. A visit to the factory revealed that weeds have overtaken the once vibrant factory in the early 60s and 70s.
Many governments have pledged to look for investors to invest but it has proved futile.

At the time that the local currency is not doing well compared to the other foreign currency when the factory is operational it will reduced the dependency on importing sugar to the country.
