NPP Primaries Results 2011

By Felix Schmermer

The ballot box is sealed and the people of the NPP party have spoken. On the 30.4 the NPP held their elections in all constituencies across the country to elect their parliamentary candidates for 2012 general election.

The fate of 516 candidates of the NPP party, who stood for election as candidates to take a place in one of the Constituency in Ghana, is decided. Over 120 000 delegates have made their decision in the polling both. All in all 147 constituencies were taking part in the voting for democratically elected MPs for the 2012 election. The election was completely led by the electoral commission which ensured a fair and transparent election. In 75 constituency candidates were unchallenged due to the missing of any contender. However these candidates also needed to be confirmed by the official way of a ballot.

These elections brought sometimes surprisingly results as some of the incumbents lost their seat while other remained in their position.

The endorsement for a lot of former MPs was not given in that election. So the NPP will start with a partly new team in the 2012 election. Reports reveal that all held elections were conducted smoothly without any complications. So now the NPP is nearly completed for 2012 election with its flag bearer and its MPs only awaiting the signal to start in the 2012 election campaign.
