The Board Chairman of Central Press Newspaper Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi has appealed to journalists in the country to carry out scientific research before publishing their stories.
He said it is sad when stories are read in the newsprint or heard on broadcast most contain slander and in the end tarnish the reputation of some officials. He said this when two of the International journalists from the United Kingdom and Netherlands paid a visit to him at his office.
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII called on managers of media houses to recruit professionals to manage the information system. He also appealed to the National Media Commission to put a mechanism that will ensure the implementation of media houses to recruit professionals. The Regional Chairman of Ghana Journalists' Association Ebo Sackey noted that the association would soon be unionised to champion the welfare of journalists in the country. He said many journalists in Ghana receive less than two hundred Ghana cedis a month as compared to other professionals and most journalists do not have any insurance package from their employers.
