Members
of the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Associations of Ghana (FUSSAG) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Branch has called off its strike action on Wednesday morning February 5th 2014.
According
to the Chairman
Daniel Egyir Arthur in an interview with CENTRAL PRESS the latest development was due
to the wiliness of the University authority to resolve their issue he said the
University has paid the January salary hence the call off of the strike.
However he noted that
the authority has pledged to pay them their eight months arrears in no time. On Monday the FUSSAG
began a five-day strike to protest at the delay in the payment of
their January salaries and the 2013 salary arrears owed them by the university. The Association had
earlier decried the delay in the payment of eight months’ arrears spanning
January-August, 2013.
