FOCUS KO-SA BEACH

by Lina Paulitsch

Only a 20 minute drive from the noisy town of Cape Coast, a day at Ko-Sa Beach Resort is perfect for relaxing in the sun and enjoying the cool water of the Atlantic Sea.

Arriving at the Gold Coast for the first time, there probably won’t be a single person, who is not impressed by the bustling towns, the beautiful trees and the palm-lined beaches. But even though lazing on the beach might seem attractive, swimming in the sea can be very challenging. The huge waves devour you with unexpected force, and you better mind the rocks near the shore!

But for all of those, who want to avoid any dangerous situations a truly beautiful resort at Ko-Sa Beach promises safety: a natural pool, made by rocks, allows even children to swim in the sea, without any fear of being dragged away by the current.

Ko-Sa Beach resort is a popular environmentally aware lodge, which is built in natural surroundings. Run by two Dutch couples it is located next to the fishing village of Ampenyi, near the historical cities of Cape Coast and Elmina.

Behind the splendid beach, where you can relax in the shade of coconut palm trees, the resort offers many different types of accommodation: Situated within a flower garden you can either stay in a local-style clay & thatch hut, in a bungalow or in a smarter self-contained room, all including a fan and clean showers. For budget-conscious people there is also a place to pitch a tent.

The bungalow accommodating the restaurant forms the heart of the resort: nicely furnished and African-style, sitting and waiting for your meal is a true pleasure! The dishes range from local and continental to vegetarian, all freshly made and served. At the bar you can enjoy fresh juices or delicious cocktails.

The resort also offers a variety of activities, such as drum and dance lessons, guided beach walks to Elmina and excursions to Cape Coast. There is also a very well-functioning book swap service and a little shop with local crafts.

For everyone, who might be overwhelmed by the activity of Ghanaian towns and markets, Ko-Sa Beach Resort is the perfect place for quiet nights and a feeling of warming safety. A Sunday under beautiful coconut palm trees will certainly equal a busy week, making you relax while enjoying the beauty of Africa.
