SIX TEMPORARY STORES CONSTRUCTED AT KOTOKA MARKET

Last year during the Fetu Afahyia the paramount Chief of Cape Coast Osabarima  Kwesi  Ataa II  appealed to the government to expedite action on the construction of the Kotokuraba market which he noted that the project is being constructed on a 5km/hour rate which is not the best for the traders who had to sell their goods in the atmosphere during the raining season and the hot weather.
On Tuesday January 28, 2014 CENTRAL PRESS paid a visit to the construction sites and six of the temporary stores have been constructed for the transfer of the traders to Kotoka market in order to start the actual construction work at Kotokuraba market.
According to the Member of Cape Coast North Hon. Ebo Barton Odro a  loan facility was taken from China EXIM bank to construct the market

FIRE CONSUMED PORTION OF ST FRANCIS DE SALES CATHEDRAL

According to an eye witness the fire was detected around 9:30pm on Sunday January 26th 2014 when the feast of the patron St. Francis De Sales was concluded.
The fire destroyed historical documentation of the church since it was the first Cathedral in Cape Coast.
According to the eye witness it took the fire service some time to arrive at the scene due to the nature of the access road the building is constructed on a hill, however they managed to extinguish the fire.
According to an official of the Church noted that they decided to compensate the owner of the building that was obstructing the access road leading to the church but that arrangement was not considered by the landlord of the property. 

The cause of the fire is yet to be disclosed by the Ghana National Fire Service.
